Ticket Complete!!! Hooray! On Sunday 6/9/2013, I have completed my ticket.
Reading back on some of the older posts here, i definitely changed up quite a few goals. Like many things in scouting, it's good to have a plan, revisit it and change it quickly! I had to change/cancel certain hikes when leaders or adults were not available to lead them - so we adjusted and found other ways. Most other things did go according to plan - minus the lengthy delay in receiving the letters from England.
I am hoping to get my beads at the first Rockland District Round Table meeting in September. Please come and be part of it!
Even though my ticket is complete, this blog will continue to be active. I need to rummage thru all the photos i've taken over the past year and add them to my timeline. So keep checking back.
I will also use it to promote scouting as my family and I journey thru the scouting system from pack to troop to venturing, in the unit, district, council and national and world movements!
Congratulations Brian! It's been a pleasure to be your ticket counselor and to see your contributions to Scouting. Be proud of your efforts!
ReplyDeleteIt has been over 10 years since I started my scouting journey. Now, as I prepare to wrap it up with my youngest son aging out of Scouts BSA and ramping down my volunteering, I look back with quiet wonder and enjoyment at some of these early moments. I am grateful I had the opportunity to serve on Wood Badge Staff 3 times, although I am very sad I was never given the opportunity to continue to move forward on staff after serving as a TG, PL and ASPL. I was able to staff a few NYLT's and could have been the course director, but it didn't feel like the right fit for me. I enjoyed serving as a dean of Merit Badge College and University of Scouting a # of times, being a unit commissioner and running both cub and scouts bsa/venturing roundtable a # of years. That in addition to my long term stints as committee chair of my local pack and troop as well as my older son's troop; both my sons earned eagle, and I believe scouting was responsible for their acceptance to their colleges. It has been a great time. Thanks for reading my blog. Wood Badge was worth it and I hope those reading this either take it or consider taking it, it is life changing. Signing off - Brian C / BobWhite forever
